  • Tie your own bow tie: If you take your style seriously and master this accessory you'll need to tie that bow yourself. Anything but a self-tied bow tie is an nonredeemable pretense and instantly puts one in a difference league.
  • Clip-on bow tie: They are a quick way to add a smooth retro touch to any collared shirt. Slip one in your backpack, pocketbook or jacket pocket for any fashion or flirting emergency.
  • Pre-tied bow: The pre-tied bow tie is a neat, naturally symmetrical bow attached to an adjustable band. If you're not confident in tying your own bow tie, then a pre-tied bow tie will speed up the process. Wearing a bow tie and having to tie it yourself  gives you more confidence and it shows in the way you walk and present yourself.
  • A General Thumb rule: The bolder the tie, the milder the shirt and vice versa. It is all about balance. Occasions which are bow tie friendly include weddings, formal events, religious services, brunch and sometimes in office events. It is less than  appropriate to wear bow ties to funerals. Flannel, suiting fabric, denim, cotton and madras checks are preferred choice for a day wear look. For evening formal wear, a classic and an elegant choice will be a black or white satin self-textured bow tie. The bow tie is undergoing rejuvenation with wooden and glittery metal/plastic bow too coming into trend.
